Geelong After Dark Set for May 6

The best of life happens when the sun goes down. Geelong after Dark returns for another night of mystery, mirth and madness this May.

For the unfamiliar, the streets, laneways and venues of Geelong’s CBD will be treated to a program of unique and surprising works and pop-up performances. Highlights are many, but we only have room for a few.

Award-winning artist Steve Salo has teamed up with the Back to Back Theatre Company for ‘The Back to Back Theatre Portraits’. For the exhibition, Steve has created portraits of the theatre’s ensemble actors, which you can preview through stevesalo.com. Is there a nobler instrument than the ukulele? I think we all know the answer to that question. They’re light, easy to carry around, and you only need to know a few chords for a good time. Oh yes, it would be a challenge to find a nuttier bunch of ukulele players than Ukes D’Jour. When was the last time you dusted off the skipping rope? Ainsley Macaulay is offering you a chance to revisit the old-game favourite – on a nine-metre long illuminated rope. Start practising those rhymes.

Friday, May 6 is the night this and so much more takes place. Hit up geelongafterdark.com.au for the works. There is much from which to choose.
