Running from 10am right through to 8pm,  step into a world of vibrant colours and lively entertainment as you explore the picturesque countryside near Ballarat. From live music performances by Melbourne’s own ‘I Like This Band’ to enchanting Clydesdale rides and face painting sessions, the festival offers a kaleidoscope of activities to delight visitors of all ages. Indulge in a culinary adventure too with the food trucks and peruse the market stalls for unique treasures and local delights. With farm animals to pet and coffee to sip, there’s no shortage of fun-filled golden moments to savour.

But the real star of the show? The sunflowers, of course! Located on a 15-acre private farm, owners Laiken and Karl Britt open up their gates for the general public to pick the bright-yellow sunflowers for approximately 4-6 weeks each year from mid-February.

With over 200,000 of these radiant blooms in full splendour, the farm transforms into a breathtaking sea of yellow. Wander through the fields, surrounded by the gentle hum of bees and the gentle sway of sunflower stalks. For just $4 per stem, you can handpick your own bouquet to take home. There’s no limit to how many you pick either! Guests are encouraged to bring cash, as while there’s eftpos, the WiFi service is a tad unreliable on the farm.

If you can’t make it to the festival, no worries, the sunflower farm has opened its season up for picking from 22 February, with $10 tickets available to pre-book. Just keep an eye on their socials for updated picking times and dates.

Visitors are also advised to wear suitable shoes for walking around the paddock and watch out for any snakes or bees in the area. Dogs are also welcome (making for an even cuter Instagram post) but will have to remain on a leash at all times. And remember, this is an outdoor event with no cover if it is raining it is a good idea to bring an umbrella and wear boots, the picking session will go ahead!

We’ve all seen and envied the photos of endless sunflowers in a field. Speculating where we could possibly dally among these gorgeous flowers and take a snap just like that? Well, now you know.

Round up your friends and family, pack a picnic, and set out for a day of unforgettable memories amidst nature’s golden beauties. With its captivating charm and endless delights, the Sunflower Festival at Pick Your Own Sunflowers Dunnstown promises to be an experience you’ll cherish for years to come.
