Forte’s Guide to So Frenchy So Chic

Time to get your French on this weekend at So Frenchy So Chic, here’s the best way to do it…

1. Brush Up On Your French

If you want to really take part in the full French experience, it’s time to start rolling those ‘Rs’. Bonjour is a good place to start, but we’ve compiled a little list of festival convenient French phrases below.

2. Make Yourself Pretty

If there’s anything the French have taught us (aside from eating pastries all hours of the day) is that looking your prime is important no matter where you are. That means getting that red lippy on, having your hair quiffed and ironing that denim shirt dress. If you’re far more concerned on what’s going in your stomach than what’s on your face, be sure to head to the Kérastase Braid Bar where you can walk away with a new do and minimal fuss!

3. Hit Up the Deli

It wouldn’t be a French cheesey soiree without a vast array of cheeses, breads and toppings (and some wine to wash it down). Visit your local and ask for some of the Frenchest cheeses they have on offer. Again, SFSC supply hampers which can be booked in advance, in particular the Cheese Hamper for Two featuring; Ile de France goat cheese Ile de France, brie and brie au bleu Bleu bresse blue cheese Accompanied by Summer strawberries Epi loaves & lavosh.

4. Wear Something Flowy, and Dance to Match

French music is all about the serene, sublime and minimal fuss. It’s the kind of music you can sit and eat cheese and sip wine to (that must have been the idea behind SFSC!). Better yet, it’s a relaxed occasion where there’s no competition for being the best dancer, it’s simply about enjoying the music, being comfortable and learning some new French words in the process, courtesy of performers Lou Doillon, Brigitte, Hindi Zahra and Soviet Suprem.

5. Leave Room for Dessert

As mentioned already, the French are well onto the ideal dessert diet. After you’ve snacked on your picnic packed lunches, save room for some snacks from some of the lovely eateries. There’ll be oysters (okay, so a savory dessert?), crepes, macarons and more.

6. Get Cozy

Dancing all day can be hard work. Make sure you pack some comfy shoes, a cushion and blanket to take some much-needed R and R as you chow down on something full of sugar.
