Five Cocktails in Geelong to Kick Off Your Weekend

If you’re currently hanging for the weekend, time to make some plans: mainly, working your way through this list of fancy-sounding and super-tasting cocktails in Geelong. It’s not all about pints of beer and sugary ciders, don’t forget the coloured umbrella!
The Workers Club’s Fire in the Hole (pictured above)
A dandy mix of Fireball Cinnamon whisky, Cointreau, lemon juice and egg white that’ll have you remembering it for days! No, not over the toilet bowl, just from how purely amazing the flavours all work together. Who would think egg white in anything other than pancakes would work?
Come for the cocktail, stay for the music.

Mozart once said that chocolate goes best in a Martini, shaken not stirred. Okay, so maybe he didn’t, but it’s hard to deny that those two ingredients are a match made in heaven. Ambrosia’s in particular has just the perfect amount of chocolate shavings to liquid ratio we like. Friday night dessert anyone?
Mozart also said journalists are highly deserving of free cocktails…

What is this fine sounding thing you may ask? It’s a little piece of Brazil that means “beat” or “smash”. Intrigued? Inside is a delicious sounding mix of condensed milk, passionfruit, strawberry, banana, coconut and a bit of white rum. There’s always something about those Brazilians…

With a mixture of West Winds gin, honey and yoghurt it’s the strangest sounding cocktail we’ve ever laid eyes on, call it love. Only catch is, this was a cocktail featured last year at the venue, though we want to bring it back for it’s unusual ingredients and ability to make our stomachs scream yes at the same time as no. This could only taste all kinds of wonderful. Let’s bring it back!

Yes, guilty, we couldn’t decide so we picked them all! Now that Aunty Alma is looking after Strasse bar and injecting some Vietnamese flavour into the joint, there’s plenty of interesting cocktails on offer. More notably, they come in interesting containers. Who wouldn’t want their cocktail to rock up in a teapot? Only thing that’d be better is if we could take it home with us…
