Feel the summer breeze at Teddy Picker, the riverside destination we didn’t know we needed

The perfect spot to pause and soak up summer in all its glory.

Summer is coming and if you’re anything like us then you’ll be on the lookout for some epic new spots to lap up every sun-drenched second of it.

After the year(s) we’ve all had, sheltering in the aircon this year just isn’t going to cut it, which is why we’ve been on the hunt for the perfect summer outdoor dining and drinks spot and we reckon we’ve stumbled upon a real winner.

A relatively new addition to the region, Werribee’s Teddy Picker is kicking goals with its fit-out, food and views.

Keep up with the latest in local good news via our website.

Named after the 2007 single from Arctic Monkeys, ‘Teddy Picker’ is a nod to owner and chef Jon Ford’s Liverpool, UK roots, so from that alone you know it’s going to be good.

The first venue to truly utilise the Werribee Riverbank (just 30-metres from the water’s edge) with incredible activated outdoor space at the rear of the restaurant, Teddy Picker delivers an open-air dining experience like no other.

While the venue allows for indoor dining with a modern, blissful interior, it’s the stunning outdoor precinct that beckons you in with a mouthwatering menu, inventive cocktails and décor and vibe that is just downright impressive.

The perfect spot to pause and soak up summer in all its glory, the aesthetic value of this riverfront bar alone is off the scale. Decked out with lush faux grass, bright beachy picnic tables interiors, striped umbrellas and an eyeful of the magnificent sunset every afternoon, Teddy Picker is perfect for dining, nibbling, or just enjoying casual drinks.

Dishing up epic feeds and drinks, all served with a side of stunning river views, the ‘flavour’ is modern Australian infused with traditional Italian cuisine – AKA utter perfection. Expect all your traditional Italian favourites with fresh twists that add another level of complexity and flavour to every dish.

Championed by traditional Neapolitan-style wood-fired pizza, the menu boasts the Pineapple 2.0 pizza which finally puts to bed the ‘pineapple on pizza’ debate instead using a homemade pineapple jam, the Lasagna Toastie which was born out of the owner’s disdain for wastage and is now the most popular menu item, as well as Sticky Date Cannoli, which incorporates the owner’s English Nanna’s old recipe with an Italian twist.

Further highlights include toasted ravioli, a hearty burger, the Teddy Picker Parma, housemade beef and pork meatballs, gnocchi Bolognese and the Squid Game linguini. How. Good.

As far as drinks are concerned, this is the place to be if you’ve got a hankering for a cocktail. You can, of course, order any classic cocktail you want, but why would you when they have a whole menu of mind-blowing creations to choose from? Get a buzz going with the Locale Espresso Martini, turn the hear up with the More Chilhee Margarita, or embrace your inner Harry Styles with the Watermelon Sugar cocktail. Our pick is the cheeky OnlyFans Martini, made with vodka, vanilla liqueur, passionfruit, lime juice and prosecco.

If cocktails aren’t your style, there’s also a healthy selection of beers, ciders, seltzers, and wine, all hailing from Victoria.

Thanks to the spacious riverside location, there’s plenty of room to kick back, soak up the glorious sunshine and sip on a world-class cocktail at Teddy Picker.

With a seriously ‘grammable outdoor situation like this, plus a downright impressive range of drinks to choose from, you best believe we’re going to be booking a table here for summer—and we reckon you should too.

Teddy Picker is located at Shop 5 116 Watton Street, Werribee. Visit the website for more information and to book.
