Some people love art that is deep and dark but local creative Lizanya REALLY loves art that is bright and colourful - and we’re really loving what her talents are sharing with the world.

From paintings, sculptures, ceramics to prints, bags made from beads and a lamp piece, her new art exhibition has something for everyone.

Everything is Cookies and Creme

  • When: 23 Jan – 16 Feb, opening night 25 Jan
  • Where: Sequel Gallery, 17d Rutland St, Newtown

Lizanya aims to create a space that makes people feel happy and nostalgic when entering the gallery; a room full of paintings and sculptures that make you point and smile.

The title of the new exhibition curated by the young Geelong local, Everything is Cookies and Creme, was inspired by a meme she came across of a silly-looking dog with a comment that read “life ain’t all cookies n cream lil fella”.

“When you try to see the good in the world, people think you are naive which I don’t think is necessarily a bad thing. There is so much bad in the world sometimes you do just have to be delusional to get through it.

“Life may not always be smiles and rainbows but your surroundings can really impact how you see life.

“In this gallery space, even if just for the brief moment they are experiencing it, I want people to look around and be inspired by the good things in the world that can sometimes be overlooked.”

The show is shaping up to be a melting pot of fun and colour, pulled together from a passionate group of local creatives; Anica Buchter, Beany, Darihan Mullenger, Ddori, Desmond Skeleton, Eden Ariston, Francine Ogle, Gracie Wright, Jess Lloyd, Layla Rose Suto, Lizanya, Molly O’Hara, Sienna Mensch and Tom Bourke.

The opening night is free to attend with complimentary bubbly and cheese, so come along and help celebrate local artists and one year of Sequel Gallery!
