Eric Steckel Locks in Geelong Show

Eric Steckel is an example of why all good parents should take their kids to as many gigs as they can. After discovering his love of the instrument, Eric’s parents bought him a guitar and watched as he forced himself to learn.

Eric, nor his parents, had to wait long to see the results. The guitar whiz had his first paying gig at the age of nine; at the age of eleven, he recorded his debut album. In 2003, he became the youngest guitarist to share the stage with the Bluesbreakers. So impressed was John Mayall by the young guitarist’s performance, he invited him to join the Bluesbreakers on their 2004 Scandinavian tour.

Black Gold is his latest release. The Barwon Club, Geelong – July 30.
