Emma Donovan Locks in Castlemaine Show

Emma Donovan is a member of the renowned ‘Donovan’ musical family. Her grandparents, Micko and Aileen Donovan, founded country band The Donovans.

Her mother, Agnes, a member of The Donovans, helped to develop Aboriginal showcases at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, which Emma would take part in.

Although raised with country in her heart, it was blues that was in her soul. Artists including Laverne Baker and Etta James, as well as No Fixed Address and Archie Roach, would be on heavy rotation.

Later, she met members of The PutBacks and created a ’70s-inspired funk, soul and rhythm and blues outfit that puts on one mean show. Theatre Royal, Castlemaine – July 22.
