Discover Gold At The Minelab Wedderburn Detector Jamboree in March

The annual two-day event returns Saturday March 11, 2023 - Sunday March 12, 2023.

The family-friendly Minelab Detector Jamboree is returning to the Central Victorian town of Wedderburn this Labour Day Long Weekend on Saturday March 11, 2023 and Sunday March 12, 2023 for two jam-packed days of gold detecting fun for the entire family.

Featuring extraordinary prizes, junior and senior Metal Token Hunts, Gold Panning knockouts, Detector demonstrations for beginners, town garage sales and night entertainment, the annual Minelab Wedderburn Detector Jamboree has become a ‘must’ on many prospectors’ calendars since its beginnings in 1998 – both for the competition and the chance to catch up with fellow enthusiasts.

Keep up with the latest in local news and entertainment here.

The authentic gold detecting event will take place at Hard Hill Tourist Reserve in Wedderburn – less than a 2.5 hour drive from the Melbourne CBD, with participants in the junior and senior Token Hunts vying for generous prizes, while spectators can enjoy children’s activities, tour local attractions and test their luck with lucky draw prizes.

Competing for great prizes in the Token Hunt that attracts over 150 participants each year, the 2023 major Senior Detector Token Hunt prize is the GPX 5000 Metal Detector, valued at a whopping $4,999 that has been donated by Minelab.

Starting from $45 for senior participants* and free for non-participants, the exciting program gets underway with breakfast and registration at 6.45am on Saturday March 11, 2023, followed by Coiltek Detector Demonstrations (every two hours) to introduce beginners to prospecting.

The day continues with a detailed briefing before contestants head out to the bush to search for this year’s allocation of metal tokens on Sunday March 12, 2023 at 8.30am.
*One day only pass including breakfast. $55 for senior participants wanting breakfast on both days and live entertainment.
