Darriwill Farm, one of Geelong’s most-loved specialty grocery stores and cafes, will close next month

You've got until August 16 to get your hands on the very best in artisan produce, wines and homewares before Darriwill Farm shuts the doors.

Darriwill Farm in Highton has become a haven for lovers of fine food, wines and quality gifts and homewares in the Geelong region over the years.

Located at the heart of the popular Highton Village shopping hub, co-owners Fleur Whelan and Jim Whelan have created a store and café that is renowned for offering something for everyone – from a relaxing space to enjoy contemporary Australian cuisine for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea; a tasting plate with a glass of wine or craft beer; homewares to brighten up any home; or even beautiful hampers guaranteed to make your person’s day.

The Darriwill Farm was just one of those places that become part of the daily routine.

Part of the fabric of Highton for many, many years, winning over not just the local community but people from across the city, the beloved business has announced is will be closing for good next month, announcing via social media on Tuesday, July 19.

“It is with a heavy heart that we need to announce that we will be closing the Darriwill Farm Highton store after Tuesday, 16 August,” they wrote.

“We had sincerely hoped to keep the store in business but due to circumstances beyond our control, that is no longer possible. It has been a wonderful experience to be part of the Highton Village community over many years and thank you to all our customers for your support over that time. Thank you also to our staff for their dedication and service.”

Until 16 August, the business will be taking 40% off all in-store stock including giftware, cards, kitchenware, food and beverages. They have suspended their thriving online hamper store (where you’d find a number of pre-made hampers filled with exceptional products sourced from around Geelong and the Bellarine), however, are still taking hamper orders for now. You can call them on 5241 2933 or come in store to organise.

For those with outstanding giftcards, the business encourages you to redeem them prior to their closure in mid-August.

This news follows the announcement back in May that the business would close its cafe component.

“Like many businesses, the past few years have given us time to review and adjust our goals. While the café has been a vibrant part of the village, we want to re-centre our focus on the Darriwill Farm Highton store so we can continue to deliver great gifts, gourmet foods, and your kitchenware essentials,” Darriwill had said.

With a strong focus on local, quality produce and with love put into each dish and every hamper, Darriwill Farm will be sorely missed.

You’ve still got a month to make the trip.

Darriwill Farm is located at 10/65-67 Barrabool Rd, Highton. Visit the website for more.
