Colin Hay announces Australian solo tour, playing Bendigo and Melbourne in 2022

The former Men At Work frontman hit be heading Down Under this November to tour his new album Now and The Evermore.

Years since his last run of shows in the land Down Under, Colin Hay, the former frontman and chief songwriter of seminal 80s outfit Men at Work, will hit Australia in November to give fans a taste of his new album, Now and The Evermore.

Kicking the solo tour off at the Capital Theatre in Bendigo on November 3, Hay will take to the Melbourne Recital Centre on November 4 and 5 in what will be his only three Victorian shows before taking on the rest of the nation, hitting Queensland, ACT and New South Wales. for multiple shows. He’ll be playing songs from both of his newest releases for the first time since he last toured down under, along with his other solo works, and of course, performing the beloved Men At Work Classics.

With 2022 also marking 40 years since Men at Work released their debut, Business As Usual (an album spawning smash hits ‘Down Under’ and ‘Who Can It Be Now?’), the solo tour comes off the back of Hay’s newest body of work, Now And The Evermore, released back in March this year.

Described by American Songwriter as “an album for the ages”, Now And The Evermore has been praised by reviewers for embodying all the elements of good storytelling and artistry.

“The first thing you’ll hear on Now And The Evermore, is a drum fill played by Ringo Starr. This is terribly exciting, because for me growing up, there was The Beatles, and then there was everybody else. Some days I think we’re still trying to make something that’s as close as possible to “Rubber Soul” when their creative wellspring was starting to bubble over.
With this new record, I tried to make it sound as beautiful as I could. Sometimes beauty hurts, but it’s a good pain,” says Colin Hay.

Over the course of three-and-a-half decades, the iconic performer has released fifteen critically acclaimed albums. During his remarkable solo career, Hay’s frequent appearances at LA’s Largo club helped garner him a legion of fans in the entertainment world. Among them was actor/director Zach Braff, who called his mix of heartfelt song writing and hilarious storytelling “one of the most amazing things I had ever seen.”

More recently Hay has been busy touring the US with Ringo Starr & His All-Star Band (the fifth time he has gone out globally with Ringo Starr) but it’s these solo shows are where his storytelling truly shines.
