Claribeaux is the elegant new restaurant bringing contemporary French dining to the Bellarine

Claribeaux is unashamedly French and all about the classics such as steak tartare, confit of duck and steak frites.

It’s not tricky to live so Frenchy, so chic in our regional home of Geelong, especially with the arrival of Claribeaux.

Nestled within the new Curlewis Clubhouse – a dynamic destination commanding in both scope and ambience – Claribeaux will satisfy any French wanderlust you might be feeling.

This new signature restaurant will delight with its’ creative structural form and culinary options – French influence, contemporary fusion and a keen focus on sustainable local produce.

Open for breakfast from 6:30am and for dinner from 5:30pm, this venue brings a whole lot of French elegance (minus the white tablecloths) to the Bellarine Peninsula.

The dinner menu is where this restaurant truly shines, giving guests the opportunity to experience a variety of (mostly French) tastes and textures. To start, you’ll find delights like natural oysters, French Onion Soup with Gruyere cheese crouton, confit Salmon and tea-smoked duck, as well as Smoked Eel, Portarlington mussels and steak tartare.

For the main event, highlights include the confit of duck,  charred Bellarine double rib lamb cutlets, the crumbed chicken cordon blea and pumpkin and parmesan souffle. Of course, it’s the steak frites that is the hero here. Translating to “steak [and] fries” in French, this is a favourite for people throughout France and is a meal of deceptive simplicity and universal appeal. It may seem like the world’s easiest dish (after all, it requires only two main ingredients), but the steak must be meaty and juicy and the frites need a meltingly soft interior and crisp crust. Both must arrive at the table piping hot. Here, you’ll find a contemporary fusion version of this French bistro classic and you better believe it’s worth it.

Desserts? Think wild berry creme brulee, cherry calfoutis and a coconut and passionfruit mille fuille.

What’s more, it’s a local gem where everyone is welcome, so you don’t need to be a guest of the accommodation or the golf club to indulge.
