Chris Rock announces first Australian tour in five years

The acclaimed comedian will return to Australia with his Ego Death World Tour 2022.

American comedy superstar Chris Rock will bring his stand-up show to Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and the Gold Coast this year.

The Grammy and Emmy Award-winning comedian, actor, director, writer and producer announced his highly anticipated return to Australia on Thursday with his Ego Death World Tour 2022.

Promoted by TEG Dainty, the five-city Australian leg will mark Rock’s first world tour in five years, kicking off Wednesday, August 10 in at Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne and making stops across the country in Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane before finishing up in the Gold Coast on Tuesday, August 23.

Adding to the excitement of the tour, in an Instagram post to his 4.5m followers announcing his global tour, Rock described the show as “all new material, introspective, very personal and very funny”.

Lauded by peers and critics alike, Chris Rock is one of our generation’s strongest comedic voices. With a career spanning more than three decades, Rock has enjoyed ongoing success in both film and television as a comedian, actor, writer, producer and director.

Rock recently wrapped production on the upcoming Higher Ground-produced biopic Rustin and David O’Russell’s Untitled film. He is also set to direct an Untitled Chris Rock project in 2023.

Proving he’s still got it, his most recent Netflix stand-up special, Total Blackout: The Extended Cut, is streaming now, while other recent credits include starring as Loy Cannon in Season 4 of FX’s Emmy-winning drama series Fargo, produced and starred in Saw franchise movie Spiral, led the ensemble cast of Top Five, and executive produced Eat Drink Laugh: The Story of the Comic Strip– a documentary recounting the history of one of New York’s most famous comedy venues.

Rock’s feature acting credits include The Week Of, the Grown Ups and Madagascar franchises, 2 Days in New YorkDeath at a FuneralNurse BettyDogma, the hip-hop comedy CB4, and New Jack City.

Clearly in a class of his own, this is not-t0-be-missed.
