Over the past few years, the Black Friday (and Cyber Monday) sales have crept onto Australia’s retail calendar, despite their American origins. This year, Black Friday sales fall on November 26 and Cyber Monday falls on November 29 meaning Aussies will be able to get their hands on some serious discounts on local goods, national must-haves and even sought-after international labels without even leaving the country.
To celebrate two of the biggest sales days of the year, Central Geelong is helping locals get a slice of the spending action with its weekend-long ‘Black Friday Shopping Festival’.

Running from Friday through to Monday, Central Geelong will provide a handy guide showcasing special offers and discounts on fashion, homewares, giftware, hospitality, services and more from all your favourite Central Geelong businesses. Many retailers will be offering discounts for the whole period, and extended trading hours too (we hear Westfield will be trading from 8am-10pm). Offers available from 6pm Thursday 25 November, and they’ll show up on this map.
Alongside a brilliant cheat sheet, the shopping festival will also have goody bags for shoppers to fill with goodies from a bunch of local businesses. Simply register online here, collect your goody bag from the Miss Fizz Caravan in Little Malop Street and make your way to participating businesses to fill your tote while immersing yourself in the abundance of free on-Street entertainment – from acoustic tunes to roving performers, everyone is guaranteed to be entertained.
While the discounts are already epic in themselves, when you spend $30 at Geelong businesses, Love Central Geelong will reward you with a little gift for your hard work – doing your part to inject some much-needed funds back into our economy. Simply bring your receipt to 111-113 Little Malop Street.
If you’re looking for more local goodness to fill your cup, the festival will also be hosting a special Wreath Making Workshop with local florist A Natural Bunch, and an outdoor Yoga in the Park in collaboration with Wonder Yoga. Head down to Johnston Park on Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 November at 10am and start your day right with a free session!
