Scheduled to take place in Melbourne and Sydney from April to May, these immersive bootcamps aim to nurture talent, offering up to 10 selected participants in each category an intensive two-day training programme. Successful applicants will have the chance to learn from seasoned industry leaders, forge invaluable connections, and refine their technical prowess to meet the demands of Australia’s burgeoning film and television industry.

Netflix made the announcement today, highlighting the significance of these initiatives in cultivating homegrown talent. The Photography Bootcamp, open for applications until Wednesday, 27th March, promises an array of enriching experiences. Participants will be treated to panel discussions featuring Netflix executives from Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, alongside a masterclass led by acclaimed Australian stills photographer, Ben King. This comprehensive workshop, scheduled for April 11-12 in Melbourne, offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into productions both locally and globally.

Meanwhile, the Video Bootcamp, slated for 6-7 May in Sydney, will equip participants with the necessary skills to capture the essence of storytelling behind the camera. From exploring best practices for behind-the-scenes videography to understanding its integral role in the production process, this programme is designed to empower aspiring videographers with practical knowledge and hands-on experience.

Both bootcamps promise to connect participants with industry professionals, providing them with invaluable insights and tools crucial for success in an increasingly competitive field. Notably, this marks the second year of Netflix’s annual Bootcamp initiative in Australia, with past participants such as Ben Thomas Bayliss and Amanda Gooch already making waves in the industry. Both have since worked on notable projects like the upcoming Australian Netflix series, “Desert King” and “Apple Cider Vinegar”.

Applications for the 2024 Netflix Photography Bootcamp are currently open, with a deadline set for Wednesday, 27th March. Meanwhile, applications for the Video Bootcamp will commence on 1 April.
