Byron Bay-based singer-songwriter Sam Buckingham will take to regional stages alongside Melbourne-based artist Hannah Acfield.

After playing alongside some of Australia’s most loved artists – like Kate Miller-Heidke, Tim Freedman, Ben Lee, Paul Kelly and Washington and off the back of releasing her most personal album yet, Dear John, Byron Bay Alt-Pop singer/songwriter Sam Buckingham is taking to stages across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland this August and September.

Officially kicking off last week, Sam will perform to adoring regional audiences this weekend with shows at Old Church on the Hill in Bendigo on Friday, August 26 and Deans Marsh Hall in Deans Marsh on Saturday, August 27, followed by performances at Ziggy Pops in St Kilda, The Palais in Hepburn Springs and Sooki Lounge in Belgrave the week after before heading out across New South Wales and Queensland.

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

Her phenomenal third album, Dear John debuted at #2 on the National AIR Independent Album Charts, the album has resonated with many thanks to the honest and soul-baring songwriting from this acclaimed artist – as heard in songs such as the powerful title track single Dear John, and message of female empowerment in the anthemic Something More.

Following a national sell-out album tour earlier in the year, Buckingham releases another captivating song from the album in the gripping Rich Girl. Says Sam, “Rich Girl is about letting go of expectations, external pressures and people who aren’t good for you. Being a rich girl is the opposite of being a good girl. In this song I’m saying “I make my own rules. I live my own life. I’m done with trying to please everyone else – I’m here to be my best self.”

As one of the standout songs of Buckingham’s current live set, the line “I’m sure you don’t want me to do the things I do… I’m even more sure that I don’t answer to you” often gets a great crowd response, now you can hear Rich Girl live, along with the rest of the album and more, when Sam hits the East Coast to continue her Dear John album tour over the coming weeks.

Don’t miss it.
