Boy & Bear, Weddings Parties Anything, Baker Boy lead Riverboats Music Festival 2022

From Friday 18 to Sunday 20 February 2022, the rural town of Echuca on the Victorian side of the Murray River will host the Riverboats Music Festival for its 10th anniversary.

The sun-soaked Riverboats Music Festival has just unveiled the perfect lineup to see off the end of summer and celebrate its 10th anniversary. Once again, next year’s multi-award-winning festival will take place on Yorta Yorta country within a natural amphitheatre in Echuca-Moama among an abundance of river red gums.

Spread across three days in mid-February, running from Friday 18 – Sunday 20 February 2022, next year’s lineup will once again play host to some of the most celebrated names in Australian music including, including the likes of Boy & Bear, Weddings Parties Anything, Baker Boy, Vika & Linda, Sarah Blasko, Shane Nicholson, Custard, Liz Stringer, William Crighton, Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Kutcha Edwards, Fulton Street, Freya Josephine Hollick, Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys and Babitha, with Rockwiz’s Brian Nankervis returning as Festival MC for yet another year, no doubt armed with his quick wit, musical trivia, and Frisbee.

With one main stage set for a weekend of Australian music magic, Riverboats #10 will be presented in an expanded format in 2022, featuring more artists on its line-up than ever before and a later finish on Sunday, with multi-ARIA-award winning artists Boy & Bear closing the festival in style.

Alongside the expanded format, next year will also see Riverboats return in all its pre-Covid glory, with thousands of music-lovers from across Australia set to descend on the twin-towns of Echuca-Moama, providing a much-needed boost to the regional economy after a challenging year and a half.

“Covid caused a hell of a lot of heartache over the last 20 months, and the live music sector was hit harder than most,” says Festival Director David Frazer.

“At long last we can finally put all of this behind us and look forward to a weekend of incredible live music surrounded by friends, family and community.”

In partnership with Murray River Paddlesteamers, Riverboats 2022 will once again present a series of intimate sideshows aboard the historic Pride of the Murray paddlesteamer. The only festival in Australia to offer this experience, these beloved river cruises will give music fans the opportunity to soak up tunes by artists including William Crighton, Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys, Freya Josephine Hollick and Melbourne soul legends Fulton Street.

The intimate paddlesteamer gigs were introduced last year in lieu of Riverboats Music Festival in 2021 which was forced to cancel due to the COVID pandemic, hosting the likes of Jen Cloher, Bob Evans, and Henry Wagons aboard Echuca’s historic paddlesteamer fleet back in April.

“Covid caused a hell of a lot of heartache over the last 20 months, and the live music sector was hit harder than most,” says Festival Director David Frazer.

“At long last we can finally put all of this behind us and look forward to a weekend of incredible live music surrounded by friends, family and community.”

With the Murray River as a backdrop, Riverboats and its its boutique size, community spirit and environmental philosophy provides a welcomed tonic from many of the bigger events taking place across the summer months.
