Box Hill Institute and Sing Sing East have revealed the winners of the 2019 recording packages for The People’s Vote and not one, but three winners for The Judges’ Award!
After receiving an overwhelming amount of high-quality submissions, not one, but three have artists have tied for The Judges’ Awards, each receiving 1-day to record at Sing Sing East with an engineer.
The People’s Vote based on the highest number of views on their uploaded YouTube clip has been taken out by Melbourne pop band Convenience Store, who’s eclectic curatorial taste for art, film, fashion and literature influence, with their elastic sound. The band’s track ‘Time To Enjoy’ clocked up over 3000 views on their video, making them the clear winners of the 2-day recording package in the studio with an engineer, valued at $2,400.
The Judges’ Award, selected on originality, creativity, and music ability, comprised of industry professionals Ben Godding from AWAL Australia’s and venue booker and publicist Sarah Guppy from This Much Talent landed on a three-way tie with Melbourne based 7-piece soul and RnB infused group KODAH, local outfit The Good Minus and Instrumental three-piece All Is Violent.
Convenience Store, KODAH, The Good Minus and All Is Violent will all step into Sing Sing East located at Box Hill Institute to record new material and use the world famous SSL desk that musical legends Paul Kelly, Nick Cave and The Badseeds, INXS, Missy Higgins, Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, Temper Trap, British India, Crowded House, Powderfinger, The Living End, Shihad, Renee Geyer, Kiss, Lady Gaga, Elvis Costello, and Mark Ronson have all recorded on.
