Bomboras is the place to be this summer.
There’s a lot to love about a beachside bar. From un-beatable views, seaside winds, spectacular sunsets and of course cold beverages, a beachside bar is the perfect place to kick back and relax for summer.
And you can thank local owners, surfers and beer lovers, Tom McGrath and Josh Friend, for bringing Torquay the ultimate summer oasis with Bomboras – the fresh, casual bar to pop-up along the Esplanade overlooking Zeally Bay.
Located on the rooftop of Bomboras Kiosk, the bar is all about exuding a laid back, welcoming feel for anyone wanting to enjoy a drink by the beach, inspired by Croatia’s abundance of beach front bars. Named after a type of wave, the space boasts a beach-shack style décor, complete with wood decking, picnic bar tables, wine barrel tables, their very own ‘#bomboras’ polycarbonate cups, and even a marquee.
Operating over the summer seasons for the last couple of years, the bar is back again for 2020, delivering the region one more place to go for a drink or two and a whole lot of good vibes. Officially reopening mid-September, the bar will be opening Thursday through to Sunday with the capacity to host up to 50 guests in line with current social distancing requirements.
With a variety of local wines, delicious spirits and local brews on tap, this season the bar have also welcomed the renowned Asian food stand Giant Springs, who will be serving a variety of Asian inspired snacks like rolled spring rolls and bao buns.
Of course, this summer oasis would not be complete without live music by the beach, with Bomboras hosting local musicians every night over the summer. Just check their socials for who will be performing and when.
Time to soak up the ambience of what is a genuine gem for the seaside town and enjoy beers with a view.
Bomboras Pop Up Bar is located at 47 The Esplanade, Torquay.
The venue will be taking walk-ins only. Due to the limits on numbers, the Beach Bar will be over 18’s only.
