The High Country Hop returns for 2024, bringing together some of the best brewers in Australia with an enviable lineup of Australian and International music artists.

Calling all craft beer lovers – mark your calendars for the return of The High Country Hop to Beechworth on Saturday 23rd March 2024. This family-friendly event  promises a day of tantalising brews, live music, delicious food, and entertainment for all ages.

Hosted by Bridge Road Brewers, the event commemorates the conclusion of the annual hop harvest, uniting top-notch brewers from across the country in a celebration of creativity and camaraderie.

Keep up with the latest food and booze news across the region here.

Fresh from their impressive performance in the GABS Hottest 100 Craft Beers of 2024, where they secured a top 5 position, Bridge Road Brewers are set to dazzle attendees once again. Partnering with Hop Products Australia, the largest hop grower in Australia, they aim to showcase the best of Victorian brewing talent.

Joining the festivities are esteemed breweries such as Deeds, Good Lands, and Moffat Beach Brewing Co alongside local favourites like Billsons, Mitta Mitta Brewing Co, Bright Brewery, King River Brewing, Crank Handle Brewery and Mountain Monk Brewers. Together, they’ll unveil two exclusive beers crafted using freshly picked hops from Hop Products Australia’s Rostrevor Gardens, in collaboration with Deeds Brewing and Moffat Beach Brewing Co, both Champion Brewery winners at the 2023 Australian International Beer Awards.

Ben Kraus, founder of Bridge Road Brewers, expressed his excitement for the event, hailing it as a celebration of the region’s rich brewing heritage.

“The High Country Hop is a celebration of our local region, renowned for having Australia’s best hops and the iconic High Country Brewery Trail,” he says.

“Working closely with Hop Products Australia we have produced beers where the hops have been picked and added same day, delivering the best quality of fresh-hop beers. It’s our salute to the farmers, hop growers and workers who make beer possible.”

In addition to an impressive lineup of brews, attendees can indulge in a variety of spirits from local distillers like Billson’s, Reed and Co, and Corowa Distilling Co, complemented by a selection of regional wines.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. The event boasts a stellar music lineup featuring international acts such as the one-man sensation Bob Log III, the BBQ punk party-starters The Burnt Sausages, and alt-country group Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys. Plus, don’t miss a free Friday night set from the UK’s dub producer extraordinaire, Mad Professor.

Designed as a family-friendly affair, The High Country Hop offers something for everyone. Kids can enjoy the Arty Party Village with activities like Box Wars, and arts and crafts.

The event will take place at Beechworth’s Historic Precinct Reserve (police paddocks) from 11.30am to 8pm. Tickets are priced at $75 for adults, including 10 dollars’ worth of drink tokens, and five hours of live entertainment.
