Blackman’s Brewery is hosting some epic beer-filled events this weekend for Good Beer Week

So many ways to drink local beer and enjoy it.

In just ten years, Good Beer Week has grown from an innocent pot to boisterous pint-sized, transforming into a global festival that celebrates the beauty of beer through more than 300 diverse and innovative events across Melbourne and regional Victoria.

Running from Friday, May 14–Sunday, May 23, the awe-inspiring, dedicated week aims to encourage more people into the good beer world, and we couldn’t think of a more worthy way to spend a week dedicated to our favourite type of brew, than by celebrating with our own local legends at Blackman’s Brewery.

Helping fuel the excitement around the craft beer industry in the region for the past seven years, the Champion Small Australian Brewery has gone from strength to strength, resulting in three brilliant venues where liquid gold is consistently flowing from the taps.

To celebrate Good Beer Week, the local legends are hosting three thirst-quenching events any beer fanatic should get around:

Blackman’s Euro Beer Trip

Taking over their flagship brewery in Torquay, the Blackman’s crew are bringing Europe to the coast with their Euro Beer Trip on Saturday, May 15.

Kicking off from 6pm in the beer garden, beer lovers will be able to celebrate (and taste) some of the Brew Crew’s favourite European Beers while reliving Euro trips from back in the day. Alongside the nostalgia of an overseas adventure, you’ll be able to sit down for an intimate evening with the Blackman’s brewers and take a deep dive into all things beer.

As an ode to our big Euro trips that got canned by COVID, the team will also be launching a Blackman’s German Pils single keg just for the night!

Better still, tickets are only $55 and includes four beers (definitely recommend trying the pale, straw-coloured German Pilsner on tap) and a Schnitzel or Parma (vegetarian options available).

You can purchase tickets here.

Beer Cocktail Making

If you’re anything like us on a Friday night, not a single barbecue or dinner party goes by without having to ask ourselves the most difficult question of all time: beer or cocktails?
To that timeless debate, Blackman’s have curated an event that will have you saying both, with their refreshing, creative beer cocktail making class.

Taking over the Ocean Grove Bar on Saturday May 15, this event will see the crew become mixologists for the afternoon, sharing their wisdom and knack for creating clever cocktails to sip on all year round.

Not only will you learn how to make three epic Beer Cocktails, you’ll also get to hang out and steal some trade secrets from the legendary Bar crew.

Tickets are just $45 and include three delicious beer cocktails for you to kick back and enjoy after all the fun is over.

Blackman’s Australian/International Ping Pong Tournament

It’s time to channel your inner Forrest Gump, because Blackman’s is hosting a larger-than-life table tennis tournament as part of their Good Beer Week shenanigans.

Signifying their first local event at their new brewery in Grovedale, the Australian/International Ping Pong will take over the refurbished warehouse on Sunday, May 16 for a day of fierce ping pong – and many pints to fuel the fine athletes taking upon the challenge of course!

Running from 12pm, this event promises to be a Sunday sesh of epic proportions as punters throw their hat in to become the first Blackman’s Ping Pong champion.

Tennis Whites and Headbands are essential and there’s bragging rights for the best dressed on the day, with a tonne of beer prizes to be won.

To take on the challenge and enjoy some awesome beer, keen ping pongers just need to purchase a ticket for $20, which covers your tournament entry and a pint.
