BLACK SUMMER releases new single + video SADNESS

Musical wunderkind Black Summer otherwise known as Rhys Tom is back with another luminescent new song ‘Sadness’, featuring Bahamian vocalist Chloe Campbell. The pair have also dropped a truly spectacular music video to accompany the new song directed by Tim Maxx.
This track follows 2017’s ‘Young Like Me’, which has racked up over three million streams across multiple platforms, quite a feat for someone who was Unearthed by triple j as a prodigious producer at just 11 years old – this new track further explains just why that was.
‘Sadness’ is perfectly crafted, undeniablely hooky with masterful production that encompasses eighteen year old Campbell’s expressive vocals. Rhys, who is now only 14, has woven in a tremendous amount of heavy emotion that is normally seen within the skillset of someone years his senior. Rhys says “’Sadness’ is a track that I wanted to give a chilled out but also energetic vibe. It’s about two people not quite connecting – one of them is in love with the drama of the relationship, but they can’t figure out how to make it work. I wanted to relay this feeling in the track so I used these dark muted synths…we recorded Chloe’s vocals in LA and then I took her vocals and further built the track around them. She brought this amazing life to the track with her awesome adlibs and harmonies.”
The epic music video captures that feeling set in multiple breathtaking settings it really sweeps the
audience into an atmosphere the same way the music does. Set in multiple breathtaking settings, Rhys walks across a desert, along a stormy beach, through a forest and into flames, following the elusive Chloe throughout the wilderness. Check it out below – we absolutely love it.
