Black Sabbath keyboardist, Geoff Nicholls, has died aged 68

The keyboardist of English rock band legends Black Sabbath has died at 68 from lung cancer.

Nicholls joined the band in 1979 and remained until his departure in 2004. Whilst not always being credited as a full member of the band, Nicholls has provided his talents to Black Sabbath, and was a good friend of former band members, Tony Martin and Ozzy Osbourne.

The latter posting on his twitter, “I’m so saddened to hear the loss of one of my dearest and closest friends Geoff Nicholls.” Osbourne went on to say that Nicholl’s had been suffering from lung cancer for awhile and that “Geoff and I have always been very close and he has been a real true friend to me and supported me all the way for nearly 40 years. I will miss him dearly and he will live in my heart until we meet again.”

He passed away surrounded my family on Saturday,  January 28.
