A day of music and family fun at the Stanley Sports Ground this March.

Taking over Victoria’s high country, Spring Ditch is bringing a huge fun-filled family event with a smorgasbord of original and diverse Australian music and a nostalgic ‘tip of the hat’ to the former Stanley Sports Day, which ran for 145 years straight!

Happening on Saturday, March 4 2023, the event will be headed up by Benny Walker, The Meanies, Liv Cartledge & Band, Droid, The BMF Rock School, DJ Jane Doc and MC John Walker.

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

Alongside the music, the event will also feature a bunch of family fun in The Golden Boot Toss, Tennis Tournament, Strong person demos, sack race, chainsaw art display, apple and spoon race, spinning wheel, Goono’s history booth, old school games, competitions, memorabilia, old cars, roving performers and stacks more.

Set within the natural amphitheatre of the beautiful, shady and tree-lined Stanley Recreation Reserve, there will be heaps of fun for the kids to the grown-ups and everyone in between! It’s a bit old, and a bit new!

Stanley is a small rural village in Victoria’s NE High Country, sits just below the snowline at an elevation of about 800m and just up the road from the wonderfully preserved gold rush town Beechworth.  Formerly known as Snake Gully and with a population of around 6000 people and 19 hotels during the 1850’s gold rush, Stanley is now home to less than 400 people.

These days this small and welcoming community is famed for its cool climate produce and fertile deep red soils that provide the perfect conditions for growing apples, cherries, stone fruit, beautiful berries, chestnuts and hazelnuts. Autumn is harvest time in Stanley and the town puts on a show of beautiful colour with crisp, clear and sunshiny days.

Spring Ditch in the centre of Stanley was once a heavily mined gully and is now a lovely wetland with numerous walking trails, history and fine produce making a trip to Stanley and a stop at one of the many farm gates or the Stanley pub so worth the drive.

Heaps of fun for the kids to the grown ups and everyone in between! It’s a bit old, and a bit new!

It all takes place on The Stanley Sports Ground in Stanley Victoria on Saturday 4th of March in 2023. Tickets are on sale now at springditch.com
