Beddy Rays: Five Things They’re Keen To Check Out in Torquay this September

Beddy Rays will take to the Torquay Hotel stage on September 23 this year.

Hailing from Reddy Bay in Brisbane, Beddy Rays have been making waves with their surf-rock meets pub rock sound – a sound that is distinctly Australian and that’s what makes them so popular.

Consisting of Jacko (Guitars/Vocals), Lewy (Guitars), Brad (Bass)) and Benny (Drums), the four-piece is hitting the road this year on a 13-date national tour in support of their wholeheartedly independent debut self-titled album. The band will kick off their tour in Maroochydore, Queensland on August 13 and take to Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Byron Bay, Canberra, Hobart, Wollongong, Newcastle, Sydney and Melbourne before finishing up in Torquay on September 23.

Beddy Rays is honest, raw and what Beddy’s are all about – mateship, Reddy Bay, good times, beers, and the importance of looking after yourself and checking in with your mates.

“When we started a band many years ago as young whipper snappers in Reddy Bay all we wanted to do was play gigs, sink tins and chat to all the legends we’d meet along the way. Now we have our very own album firmly in our grip, and to say we’re excited is a major understatement,” the band say about their album.

“We decided to go with a self-titled album for our debut because we believe this album IS Beddy Rays through-and-through. It’s made up of our recent singles and a bunch of brand newies we’ve been cooking up for you legends. A nice mixed bag of lollies! We hope you love it as much as we do!”

Produced by Brock Weston and Beddy Rays, and recorded at Brock’s Place in Brisbane, Beddy Rays features the ‘Handful’, the thrasher ‘Sort It Out’, the chaotic ‘Week On Repeat’, the explosive ‘Wait A While’, a rowdy dose of ‘Milk’, the mosh ready beast ‘On My Own’ and the anthem that started it all, ‘Sobercoaster’.

To celebrate their debut album and forthcoming stop in our region at the Torquay Hotel, Beddy Rays share the five things they’re keen to check out in Torquay, marking their very first visit to the regional coastal town:

Bells Beach

We would love to dip our toes in at Bells Beach and maybe show the locals how to carve up a barrel of green goodness.

Torquay Hotel

We’re keen to check out the Torquay Hotel. We’ll take a schooner of Melbourne Bitter with a parmy after our sesh on the beach, cheers.

Guitar Shops

We love getting around local guitar shops everywhere we go so if anyone has recommendations hit us up!

HSPs

We wanna sus out ya best HSP in town. We hear Victorian Halal Snack Packs hit different!

FarmDog Brewing

While we’re in the area, we wanna suss out FarmDog Brewing* because we love ourselves a 4-legged nicely headed glass sandwich to wrap our lips around.

FarmDog Brewing is located in Wallington, a short trip from Torquay and 110% worth it.
