Whoever said there’s no such thing as a free lunch hasn’t heard about Vietnam Airlines’ upcoming Banh Mi Bonanza. On Wednesday, 28th February 2024, the airline, in collaboration with Banh Mi Stand, a trendy eatery in Melbourne’s CBD, will be dishing out hundreds of free banh mi sandwiches, and everyone’s invited to join in the feast.
Keep up with the latest food and booze news across the region here.
Banh Mi Stand has crafted a bespoke menu exclusively for this one-day event, drawing inspiration from key destinations served by Vietnam Airlines from Melbourne. Expect French-inspired banh mi with duck confit and orange plum sauce, German variations featuring pork sausage and salted cabbage, and British nods to the classic Sunday roast, with rare roast beef and onion jam gracing the menu. For those craving subcontinental flair, turmeric cauliflower and kasundi elevate the Indian-inspired banh mi, while an OG Vietnamese option offers a taste of tradition with Hanoi cha com, a pork and rice mix, served on Hai Phong pate.
To complement these delectable offerings, complimentary Vietnamese iced coffee will also be on offer, providing the perfect mid-week pick-me-up. The first 200 lucky individuals through the door at 10am will enjoy these culinary delights, all on the house.
