In late June the announcement of the immediate closure of Ballarat's landmark film fixture Regent Cinema. Now life will be breathed back into the historic place.
Reopening under new ownership on Thursday 3 October, films will be back on the screen at Regent Cinema.
Independent, family-run Sydney-based distribution company, Palace Films have announced the acquisition of the beloved cinema, saving it from permanent closure. Rebranded as Palace Regent Ballarat, the nearly-century old theatre on Lydiard St N, in Ballarat Central will continue its capacity to show blockbuster films, but also expand to introduce acclaimed international film festivals and premium upmarket films and independent theatre.

The rebrand not only saves the venue, but introduces signature items from the Palace Cinemas brand including their award-winning olive oil popcorn, gourmet Connoisseur choc tops and a handpicked wine selection (they are known for their generous pour!).
The premium mark continues through their special events and sessions including Student Saver Days, Senior Saver Days, Babes in Arms screenings, Family Film Passes, discounted Movie Club member sessions and exclusive previews and premieres.
In celebration of the exciting new cinema experience, members of the Palace Movie Club (available in both free and premium tiers) can enjoy $15 standard sessions in an exclusive to the Ballarat community.
They are also inviting former employees of the Regent Cinema to explore employment opportunities within the reopened venue, encouraging application through their website.
