Randy Feltface, Dave Thornton and Aunty Donna are all locked in to perform at BallaRatCat Comedy, Ballarat’s very own dedicated comedy club.
While we’ve got Melbourne’s annual International Comedy Festival to look forward to each and every year, there are a number of comedy clubs that will have you rolling in laughter year-round – including one right in the heart of regional Victoria.
BallaRatCat Comedy is Ballarat’s very own dedicated comedy club, bringing the finest funny to town on a regular basis since 2013. Located within The George Hotel in Ballarat, the bar is always packed, the drinks are always flowing, and in the past comedians who have taken the stage include Dave Hughes, Celia Pacquola, Denise Scott, Hannah Gadsby, Nazeem Hussain, Tom Ballard, Oliver Clark, Peter Jones, Bob Franklin, Eve Ellenbogen, Rhys Nicholson and so many more.
Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around the region here.
While the past couple of years has meant fewer laughs for the local club, BallaRatCat is back for 2022 with a point to prove and a never-ending roster of the nation’s best stand-up comedians who are ready to take the stage, grab the mic and make you laugh so much it hurts.
It all kicks off on Wednesday, February 23 with everyone’s favourite felt-faced comedian, Randy Feltface. Dubbed the ‘Official Feltface Farewell Party’, the show will see Randy dropping an hour of brand new stand up and stories on his hometown crowd, and then leaving Australia to seek his fortune in foreign lands.
Over the past few years Randy Feltface has written and performed eight solo stand-up comedy shows, released five comedy specials, played sold out seasons in London and New York and been nominated for Best Comedy at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
With US television appearances, multiple performances at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal plus so much more, Randy’s live show is a high-energy existential crisis, full of biting observations, razor-sharp crowd work and rapid arm movements.

In March, Australia’s biggest open mic comedy competition RAW Comedy returns to BallaRatCat Comedy in an attempt at finding the nation’s next belly-busting performer. Hosted by the brilliant Dave Thornton, Ballarat’s funniest people will be mounting the stage and taking the plunge in the qualifying heat of the Melbourne International Comedy Festivals competition on March 4 at 8pm. Each contestant will present five minutes of new, original comedy material including stand-up, sketch, double and triple acts, as well as musical comedy.
After that, chaos is bound to ensue as the Australian comedy trio Aunty Donna take over the venue for three amazing nights to test-out some new material before they head out on a national tour. The entertaining group exploded onto the Melbourne comedy scene in 2012 thanks to their absurd style of surreal, fast-paced, alternative sketch and have been delivering the laughs ever since. They’ll take to the stage in Ballarat for three nights from Tuesday March 8 to Thursday March 10, showcasing the larrikin nature of hosts Mark, Broden and Zach, promising in unpredictable moments of comedic gold.
