Ballarat Blog #660

We are still holding on to the tail-end of summer and the days are quite warm still. Awesome still for heading down to the Hop Temple for a beer or wine after you have finished work. The food caravans are out and about on Thursday nights and the courtyard out the back has been pumping of late.

Hollow World are coming to Karova Lounge on Friday 24th of March. It’s a night for melodic death metal lovers to come out in droves. Coming from Melbourne , the lads will be kicking off their Exanimate Tour and if you are looking for killer riffs, crazy drum patterns and a brutal vocal style, you had better get along. If you have a chance, have a listen to Defiling Paradise on their Facebook page.. I guarantee it will be something you may have never seen before. Pretty amazing stuff!

CC:Disco! will be spinning tunes on Saturday April 1 which has locals waiting with baited breath. CC has played at some of the world’s biggest dance music festivals and recently played at Groovin’ the Moo. Normally at home on PBS FM’s show Smoke and Mirrors, this is a rare treat for the people of the Rat so get along.

La Rumba are playing on March 24. Founded upon a love for both old and new wave Spanish flamenco, this quartet from Melbourne are passionate and spontaneous and have been playing the Melbourne scene for many years.

Billy’s Bistro and Bar down on Main Road has some great food on offer. Furphy is served on tap and the burger is absolutely worth going down to try. The staff are really attentive and the service is fantastic. On the coffee front, try Webster’s Market and Café. The Eggs Benedict are absolutely brilliant and this café is situated in one of the most beautiful streets in Ballarat. This establishment is very popular as the hospital is nearby, so it may pay to book a table if you have a group. Until next time..
