Ballarat Begonia Festival to return Labour Day weekend

Begonia's will be back on display at Ballarat Botanical Gardens' annual Ballarat Begonia Festival in 2025.

Botanics have been at the forefront of late with thousands flocking to witness the blooming of the corpse plant at Geelong Botanic Gardens this week and spring taking over towns like Bendigo.

Over in Ballarat, the Ballarat Botanical Gardens have just announced the return of their beloved annual Ballarat Begonia Festival for 2025. Taking place across Labour Day long weekend on Saturday 8 to Monday 10 March, the festival is a celebration of horticulture, sustainability and community, whilst welcoming in the vibrant flowers.

Renowned for its breathtaking displays of rare begonias, the Ballarat Begonia Festival will showcase the city’s rich gardening heritage with a renewed focus on sustainability. Next year’s theme will be woven through all aspects of the festival, inspiring visitors to connect with nature and embrace eco-conscious practice.

Highlights of the Ballarat Begonia Festival program will included an extended Begonia display, stretching through the Robert Clark Conservatory, with next years display promising a romantic ambiance pairing fragrant lavender and lush greenery with the star flower. The Ballarat Botanical Gardens will also extend their opening hours to allow more visitation during the blooming period and beloved TV personality and gardening extraordinaire Costa Georgiadis will grace the Ballarat Begonia Festival main stage on both Saturday and Sunday to share his insights of gardening and sustainable living.
