Cheers to Ballarat’s Craft Beer Venture

Ballarat has claimed the title as the beer capital of Victoria with the announcement of a $1.2 million beer centre being created in the regional town to celebrate the rise of craft beer and brewing.

With a hefty $500,000 in state government funding and a partnership with the town’s venue Hop Temple, The Australian Craft Beer Centre of Excellence (as it will be called) will include a craft brewery, beer tasting and bar area, teaching space and a function area, creating a one-stop for beer enthusiasts.

Smaller brewers will also be able to go to the centre for advice on technique, business development and market testing which will be a key feature of the centre.The centre will also work alongside Federation University to create training courses, building on the university’s current leading brewing education.

Announced by The Andrews Labor Government, the centre will also create 25 new jobs, creating a small win for locals, beer lovers, locals and tourists alike who can indulge in the region’s best brews.

With the explosion of new styles, collaborations and experimentations, the Australian craft beer scene is creating more enticing brews than ever. Construction is expected to begin within a year so stay tuned beer lovers.
