Australia’s only solar-powered symposium Off the Grid is back in 2017 for its third year celebrating creative self-sufficiency.
On Friday 22 December, Off the Grid will take over the forecourt of the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA) to present a sun-soaked day of live music and art as well as conversational style discussions from Australia’s leading environmentalists, architects, activists, entrepreneurs and more. 100% of the festival’s profits will go towards a renewable energy project in Melbourne.
Presented by Finding Infinity – an organisation dedicated to speeding up the world’s transition to renewables through creativity and consulting – OTG is designed to help the city of Melbourne create its own future based on infinite resources.
The entire event is powered with a solar array and battery bank to ensure it is entirely “off the grid”.
The festival’s zero-waste policy will see any recyclables recycled, any organic waste used for compost, aspiring to send absolutely no material sent to landfill.
Not only will there be a vibrant live music and arts program, the day will commence with a conference program – dubbed “The Palimpsest” – designed to promote the exchange of ideas and innovations by exploring experts’ visions of future cities.
