Armoured Earth return with a bludgeoning five track EP

After circulating the scene for a few years, Melbourne based metal act Armoured Earth are back with their second release; the bludgeoning five track EP ‘Empire.’

Overall, the lads are delivering a really cool sound, with vocals perfectly akin to the likes of Randy Blythe and impressive rhythm sections, however, it is slightly hard to lump Armoured Earth into a genre.

While ‘Over the Edge’ delivers an old school trash vibe and Black MEtal tinged blast-beats, songs such as ‘Degradation to Vanity’ are more so dictated by epic guitar solos and flashy riffs.

‘Fracture’ Delivers the most brutal dose on what is an already extremely heavy EP. The bounciness of the song’s opening will make for an impressive spectacle live, as will the pre-chorus breakdown.

Although the prog-metal styled clean vocals found in most of the EP’s choruses may have worn a bit thin for me, it was Armoured Earth’s rhythm section that really won me over with Chaise Egan and Bredan Scott collaborating perfectly to deliver heavy and melodic riffs simultaneously.

With ‘Empire’ highlighting the most refined and professional release from Armoured Earth to date, there’s no telling what the future has in store for these Melbourne up and comers. Definitely one to keep an eye out for, I can see them gracing the Unify stages within the next couple of years.
