An honorary Australian, recent years have seen Arj Barker spend more time in our country than his own.
Having first gained major international exposure from his role as ‘Dave’ on HBO’s Flight of the Conchords, Barker has become part of our countries furniture and a household name. He has appeared on dozens of popular Aussie TV shows like the original Hey Hey It’s Saturday (yep, he’s been coming here for a while), Thank God You’re Here, The Glasshouse, Good News Week, Rove Live, The Project, Talkin’ ‘Bout My Generation, Spicks and Specks, The Great Debate and of course is a regular to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala.
In what promises to be a hilarious night, Barker will be supported by Mike Goldstein. Another staple of the Australian stand-up scene for well over a decade. One half of the very successful comedy podcast The Phone Hacks and a seasoned performer, Mike Goldstein has established himself as a unique and refreshing rising star in comedy, both locally and internationally.
“We are keen to bring top Australian and international talent to the Peninsula and at the same time showcase our food and wine – at larger venues- henceforth the comedy night being held at the Portarlington Parks Hall”, says General Manager of Bellarine Estate- James Kenny.
“We’re excited to take our wines and cuisine away from the winery and introduce them to a totally new audience, in a totally new setting.
“This event marks a significant milestone in our winery’s growth and expansion, and we’re anticipating a memorable evening.. We have a vibrant live music scene at the winery, so it’s our desire to support and champion both music and comedy on the Bellarine Peninsula”, says Kenny.
This is the second in a series of offsite major entertainment events that the local Bellarine winery has produced – with the Elvis to the Extreme event also being held off site at the same venue on August 24 – to celebrate the anniversary of the King of Rock n Roll.
