The grants are open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music creators and eligibility is not restricted to members of NATSIMO’s umbrella-organisation, music rights management organisation, APRA AMCOS.

These grants are the latest in the LIFECYCLE portfolio under the NATSIMO funding program, which also includes grants for marketing and recording. They have so far provided $670,000 of funding and opportunities for the Indigenous music community, contributing to making songwriting, recording, marketing and touring possible in this challenging economic climate.

Leah Flanagan, Director of NATSIMO, explains, “Our community has some of the most exciting live talent touring on the world circuit, which is a huge feat considering how difficult it is to tour and build audiences domestically, particularly in a post-COVID environment.

“These grants are designed to support our artists looking to tour a new project, to engage and build new audiences through a series of live performances. Once again, thank you to Music Australia for funding these career-changing opportunities.”

Music creators interested in applying will need to provide project details and timeline including confirmation of a minimum of 5 performances within the 1 March 2025 and 1 February 2026 activity period, a detailed budget, relevant confirmation and supporting letters from participants, and links to the best examples of their music. A more comprehensive guide to application can be found on the application page.

Applications for the LIFECYCLE Touring Grants are open now until 11:59 PM (AEDT) Sunday 22 December 2024 with the grants available to cover activity undertaken and completed between 1 March 2025 and 1 February 2026. Applicants and recipients of previous LIFECYCLE Grants are also welcome to apply.
