Celebrating the local region, The Coast is bringing a sophisticated dining experience to Anglesea

Working in partnership with Stanley – a proud Kurnai Wotjobaluk man living and creating on Wadawurrung Country – and Nikki McKenzie – a proud Aboriginal woman with Wadawurrung Country heritage, The Coast’s head chef Evans Magati has curated a collaborative menu with dishes showcasing native flavours in signature meals inspired by bush tucker.

Highlights include Wattleseed damper with Kakadu Plum Co lemon myrtle infused olive oil and Kakadu Plum Co bush dukkah as an entree, and the Goeem (kangaroo) for main, served with locally sourced native spinach and bush tomato jus. For dessert, lemon myrtle crème brulée with caramelised plums, dehydrated sponge, meringue and vanilla ice cream.

Other menu items include entrees Ocean Road Abalone, grilled prawns with burnt leek and chilli coconut sauce, 12-hour Hoisin short rib with gremolata and baked goats cheese with asparagus, pistachio dust, rocket and beets puree; as well as mains local braised beef cheek with seasonal vegetables and red wine jus, banana leaf-wrapped Petuna ocean trout with sticky coconut rice, pomelo and green mango salad, and spinach and ricotta tortellini with tarragon tomato sauce, sage and pecorino cheese.

To celebrate the new focus on celebrating Indigenous culture through food, The Coast will be hosting a special launch event on Friday, July 15 from 6:30pm. The launch evening will follow a 6-course set menu, kicking off with a signature craft cocktail on arrival and an official welcome from Norm and Nikki.
