This not-to-be-missed event promises a night of spellbinding music and soul-stirring melodies, all steeped in the evocative flavours of New Orleans.

Renowned as a talented pianist and broadcaster, Rudegeair has made his mark with projects like Lake Minnetonka, The Bowie Project, and of course, the unique Bayou Tapestry. As a Melbourne-based piano player and songwriter, his diverse musical talents have earned him recognition on Lake Minnetonka and PBS FM’s Black Wax.

Drawing inspiration from the intoxicating Night Tripper period of Dr John’s music, Bayou Tapestry emerges from the depths with their intoxicating blend of original voodoo swampfunk. It’s a modern take on musical traditions, where the essence of New Orleans fonk meets 21st-century jazz sensibilities.

Originally released in 2011, Adam Rudegeair’s album Bayou Tapestry is a concept masterpiece that marries the primal fonk of New Orleans with a contemporary jazz perspective. This album serves as the foundation for the band’s latest incarnation, infusing the tracks with fresh energy and collective creativity. Picture a sultry mix of voodoo rhythms, haunting swamp melodies, and sharp horn arrangements. Influenced by Dr John’s iconic Gris-Gris album and the enigmatic Swamp Thing of DC comics, Bayou Tapestry takes listeners on a sonic journey to an otherworldly realm. Special guest Henry Manetta adds a guttural intensity through his vocals, and even Adam himself drops the occasional original rap, delivering an experience that will embed itself in your mind like creeping vines.

The anticipation is building as Adam Rudegeair prepares to grace the stage at Pistol Pete’s for the very first time, bringing the electrifying sounds of New Orleans to Geelong. The show is proudly supported by Southern Comfort – The Spirit of New Orleans, a fitting partner for an evening filled with rhythmic magic.
