Adalita, Mick Thomas and Mark Wilson announced as 2019 Connecting Song Mentors

Supported by Creative Victoria this years connecting song project will be mentoring and showcasing Bellarine uprising unsigned musicians. The project focuses on musicians in Geelong and surrounding areas to showcase and develop an artist with the help of award-winning musicians. This songwriting opportunity will offer the band, solo act or group the opportunity to write, record and create a film clip which will be shown at the Geelong After Dark festival in Geelong.
The program begun in 2016 with Adalita, Mark Wilson and Tim Neal mentoring the youth of the Geelong area.
Adalita now a solo act was part of the band Magic Dirt which toured internationally originating from Geelong. She now works as a solo musician and is touring for The Green Day musical American Idiot. Part of the Grudge scene in the 90’s her punk-rock vibe is strong and gives an amazing stage presence.
Mark Wilson is part of one of Australia’s most successful international bands, Jet. He is the bass player of this band since the formation in 2001 they have toured with the Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen. The band took a break between 2012-2017 but Mark was still working in the industry becoming an A&R representative for Warner Records. Growing up in Geelong the now famous guitar player will be a great contribution to the mentoring team.
Mick Thomas has lived in the Geelong area since he was 9 years old even completing his BA at Deakin University. Mick is dedicated to the music industry being a singer-songwriter, producer, guitarist, playwright and music venue owner. He was the leader of Weddings Parties Anything (1984-1998) and of Mick Thomas and the Sure Thing, but also with his solo career he has won multiple ARIA awards and co-written songs with the likes of Paul Kelly.
Focusing on the Geelong community this program will shine a light on the amazing musicians the area has to offer.
