Anderson’s voice is emotionally charged and beautifully self-assured.
If 2020 was a fruit, you bet your bottom dollar it’d be a lemon. But Geelong-based musician Abe Anderson is turning it into sweet, sweet lemonade with the release of his new single ‘None the Wiser’.
You may have heard Anderson belting out an acoustic banger at your local pub before the “new normal” kicked in. You may have given him an appreciative nod at your mates wedding after he sang the bride down the aisle. Well now you can listen to his first full-length single in the comfort of your own home – and trust us, with a voice like this, you’ll want to.
Reminiscent of James Bay – another wedding favourite – Anderson’s voice is emotionally charged and beautifully self-assured. He sings with a charismatic Australian accent, which when combined with the bluesy acoustic guitar that simmers across the track, feels like a nostalgic trip to summers gone by.
Underscored with a surprisingly plucky bass, the track moves from a smooth, swaying chorus into a starry electric-guitar studded bridge. It speaks to Anderson’s confidence as a musician who knows how to move a listener. You can’t help but want to sing along.
Whether the influence of his Geelong hometown was consciously felt during production, we can’t say. But ‘None the Wiser’ has a beachy, Ocean Alley vibe that will definitely make you excited to see Anderson live when the apocalypse ends.
