Unique European restaurant The Continental will close its doors permanently after service on Saturday, November 19.
Perched on Little Malop Street, The Continental Geelong has become a favourite within the Geelong dining scene thanks to restaurateur-extraordinaire Ryan Thompson.
Donned in crisp white classic 40’s Italian jackets, the restaurant reflects post-war European restaurant and bar with its 1940s Italian-inspired fit-out. Think art deco lighting, polished concrete floors and treasures picked up from Europe, including an original 1960s coffee machine and vintage Campari ephemera.
Since opening at the end of 2019, the 60-seat restaurant has been dishing up great food designed to be shared (or not), with a range of modern dishes with the addition of bar snacks and European wines, beers, Amaro and cocktails.

Now the beloved venue has announced this November will be its last, closing its doors from Saturday, November 19.
“In light of celebrating our 3rd birthday today, it is with a heavy heart that The Continental will be permanently closing its doors, as of Saturday the 19th of November. All bookings after this date will be contacted by management in the coming days. We thank all of our wonderful customers that have enjoyed The Continental with us during our time on Little Malop Street. It has been amazing being part of such a supportive little strip of shops/restaurants in the heart of Geelong,” the venue shared on social media on Sunday.
“We hope many of you come and join us to celebrate The Continental over the coming two weeks. Bookings can be made via the link in our bio in a first-come-first-served basis. After the 19th of November you can find most our team down at our sister restaurant Lou’s Pizza and Wine with a few exciting menu additions and more opening hours.
