Prepare to get fizzy, a prosecco festival is coming to Melbourne

Words by Staff Writer

Pop some bottles because Melbourne's Prosecco Festival is back in Abbotsford for a sparkling day out.

Ahhh prosecco – the liquid gold that ignites any party. With its slight sweetness and fruity characteristics, it’s easy to see why Prosecco is one of the most popular wines available. If you have a love for this bubbly Italian white wine and you don’t mind spending a whole day dedicated to sipping, then we’ve got just the event for you!

Back better than ever, The Prosecco Festival is pouring into the Abbotsford Convent on Saturday, March 2, 2024, offering a dazzling array of bubbles, bites, and beats at the 7th annual Prosecco Festival.

Keep up with the latest food and booze news across the region here.

The Prosecco Festival promises an immersive experience, allowing attendees to rub shoulders with growers, winemakers, and importers. Dive into the world of Prosecco and explore over 40 different varieties, each carefully curated to suit every palate. It’s a golden opportunity to not just taste but truly appreciate the best Prosecco offerings in Australia.

Beyond the bubbles, the Prosecco Festival brings together Italian and local Prosecco producers, along with the original Prosecco and Spritz Bar, Van Di Vino. For those who prefer alternatives, indulge in award-winning craft beer from King River Brewing and a tempting selection of food that pairs perfectly with your Prosecco journey.

Confirmed exhibitors include renowned names from Italy such as Babo, Bandini, Bellusi, Cester Camillo, Divici, Rebuli, Rigoni, and even the iconic Kylie Minogue. On the Australian front, Dal Zotto, Brown Brothers, Pizzini Wines, and others will showcase the best in local Prosecco craftsmanship.

For an exclusive experience, consider the VIP Sessions, each featuring a 45-minute Prosecco Masterclass with the Prosecco Queen, Melissa Brauer. Dive into the nuances of Prosecco with an intimate tasting of four styles paired with antipasto snacks and cheese. The VIP treatment also includes an appearance by a member of the Dal Zotto family, Aperol Spritz on arrival and departure, and an 80s after-party in The Oratory for the second session attendees.

As the sun sets, the Prosecco Festival keeps the party alive with a Blue Light Disco in The Oratory from 8.45 pm to 10.30 pm. Expect a nostalgic journey with disco balls, lasers, smoke machines, and DJ tunes from The Prosecco Queen herself. Only 150 tickets are available, and note that this ticket can be purchased only in conjunction with a Session 2 ticket.

Each festival ticket includes a tulip-shaped Plumm sparkling wine tasting glass to keep, a Festival program, and a tote bag for convenient take-home purchases of up to 2 bottles of wine. With two session times available (11 am-3 pm and 4.30 pm-8.30 pm), attendees can choose the slot that suits them best.

Tickets are available via Eventbrite. Tickets are limited, but the bubbles are endless. This event is strictly 18+, so book in the babysitter and pre-order your Uber.
