For Geelong locals who are don’t want to go all fancy-shmancy, prim and proper and just want to put their edgy pants on and cut loose at a low-key spot in town, this Geelong destination is just for you.
Introducing Mad Good, a new bar that’s just quietly popped up on Pakington Street. Located with local favourite The Barking Dog, this bar has taken over the space in the old function room, breathing new life into the venue.
Decked out with quirky mismatched pendant lights, eclectic art and an abundance of greenery dangling from the walls, you’ll feel right at home with vintage couches, bench seating and spacious booths littered around the venue for you to relax on as you drink your choice of poison.
Alongside the laidback, unassuming vibes that the space offers, they’re also bringing a serious slice of retro gaming to Geelong West with Ghost Busters and Indiana Jones pinball machines, Daytona USA and Super Nintendo Entertainment Systems available to play with screen located at each booth.
On Friday and Saturdays, punters will be able to enjoy beats from live DJS while sipping on the craft beer from the tap or drink specials of the week, including the likes of $10 espresso martinis and $15 whiskey sours. Theme nights are another thing this venue will be doing on a regular basis, having already hosted funk, hip hop and RnB on Fridays and favourite club classics on a Saturday.
According to their Facebook page, it looks like we could also be seeing this place become home to some glorious food trucks and outdoor entertainment. We will keep you posted on the latest on that as updates come through.
There is nothing fancy pants about this joint, just a dedicated focus on having a real good time. So, whether you’re looking for a new place to try, or you just want to sit back and relax with booze, beats and pinball, this place ticks all the boxes.
Kicking off from 9pm, there’s currently two sessions in place on Friday and Saturday nights. The first until 10:45, while the second runs from 11pm until 1am.
