Untether Gallery and Studio is the newest addition to the Geelong art ecology, ready to hit the ground running from Thursday 8 August

Opening at the mouth of the Geelong Cultural Precinct on Little Malop Street, Untether Gallery is the passion project of one of Geelong’s business and cultural leaders Jennifer Cromarty. The founder and chair of Creative Geelong has jumped on board the gallery curator course to extend from her work in creative industries.

‘Exploring Your Humanity’ is core to the purpose of Untether Gallery with exhibitions and events inextricably linked to the human experience. As such, Untether Gallery will host a series of specific exhibitions from selected artists and creatives to highlight the diversity of the creative community.

The exhibition boasts works from local independent artists Lazarus Gordon, Andrew Delaney, Emma Holland, Annita Price, Luisa Lafornara, Deb Salter, and Untether founder herself, Jennifer Cromarty.

There is also a call out for second exhibition series, group show birth + rebirth, with the open call closing Thursday 22 August. This exhibition will see artists work respond to the prompt of what birth and rebirth means to them and will run for a month at the Untether Gallery From 12 September until 12 October.

This is the first of many open call exhibitions that Untether Gallery plans on hosting throughout the year, in addition to curated shows. The space is also open for hire for artists and curators to use for exhibiting purposes, whether its a whole gallery takeover, a wall or the floor space.

Being a part of Creative Geelong’s Hub, Untether Gallery will also support early career and emerging artists through its studio spaces and creative enterprise growth programs.
