A karaoke competition is taking over this classic Geelong pub this month

Head to the castle and sing all your fave tunes at the top of your lungs to go in the running for cash prizes.

Just when you thought Friday nights couldn’t get any better, the folk at one of Geelong’s mainstays Elephant and Castle have upped the ante on their weekly karaoke and cocktails nights by introducing a bit of friendly competition.

Taking over the main bar every Friday night until September 9, the pub is hosting its first-ever ‘karaoke contest’.

Kicking off tonight, August 5, there will be six qualifying rounds each Friday night. Two heat winners from each round will then go through to the Grand Final on September 16th.

The event will be hosted by ‘Pauli and Angie’ and feature special guests judges throughout the competition.

For those keen on belting out a Rihanna and Whitney, they’ll be in the running for a bunch of cash prizes, with first place receving $500, second place scoring $150 and third place earning $100. There will also be $50 Elephant & Castle vouchers given to each heat winner.

If that wasn’t enough the $14 cocktail specials are sure to help get you singing and dancing all night long. Think espresso martinis, French martinis, and amaretto sours, and the likes of Poker Face, The Horses, Livin’ On A Prayer or Wannabe.

Register your interest via [email protected] by leaving your details and what date you want to sing or sign up on the night from 8pm.

The Elephant and Castle is located at 158 McKillop St, East Geelong. Walk-ins are welcomed but bookings are recommended. Visit the website for more information.
