A fair dedicated to our love of strawberries is happening in Wallington this weekend

Words By Jena Carr

What’s better than a nice juicy strawberry? If your answer was a festival dedicated to the delicious fruit, you are in for a treat.

After two slow years, Wallington’s Strawberry Festival is back. Jam-packed with juicy strawberry goodness, this is bound to appeal to everyone. Featuring a variety of strawberry treats that will make even the driest mouth water, the fair will make every strawberry lover’s dreams come true.

Held by the Wallington State Primary School, the fair will help establish a sense of community and social inclusion, an aspect that many of us lost in the past two years.

Keep up to date with all the latest food news here

The fair will turn your legs into jelly with many market stalls, animal displays and rides, show bags and lucky dips, auctions, and kid’s entertainment. It will feature pop-up booths from local businesses that are only now recovering from the challenging times.

Some highlights include all the strawberries on offer to take home, delicious strawberry and cream cups, pavlova slices with strawberries & cream, pony rides, and Next Level Skirmish and mini-golf. There will also be several food trucks at the event, including Bean Craven Coffee, Lil Dumpling Van, The Potato Works, Mr. Squidgy, and Fresh Meal Fairy.

The day will also feature a huge line-up of entertainment, including Sage Duo, Paul Watson, Geelong Lyric Theatre Society, and Pineapple Head, a local Crowded House Cover Band.

As much as we love them, the school does ask that you leave your strawberry loving furry friends at home as this is a strictly no dogs event not to frighten any kids.

With off-road parking available and many things to keep you entertained, this event is perfect for strawberry lovers of all ages.

You won’t want to miss this wholesome running for only one day this Sunday, the 29th. Make sure to swing by Wallington Primary School during 10 am – 3 pm to grab a chocolate-covered treat or take a pony ride around the fair.

All you need to bring is your reusable bags and cups, a gold coin entrance donation and a love for all things strawberries.

The fair is guaranteed to provide you with some berry good times and is one not to be missed.

Drop by the Strawberry Fair this weekend only, Sunday, May 29th 2022.
