A dedicated dog bakery is opening on Pakington Street

Time to treat your loyal and fluffy, four-legged friends.

There’s nothing we love more than exploring all the little eateries sprinkled within Geelong’s centre of cosmopolitan lifestyle and multiculturalism, AKA Pakington Street, and when it comes to man’s best friend, we’ve certainly got a soft spot for a pooch or two (or all of them). So in the greatest news to come across us this week, it looks like we’ll be getting a dedicated dog bakery on Pakington Street, serving up sweet and savoury treats for four-legged foodies.

The key takeaways

  • A dog bakery is opening on Pakington Street
  • Pure Paws Dog Bakery will have more than 40 of their best products on offer
  • The bakery is celebrating with a grand opening this weekend, featuring free treats and half price puppuccinos

A local favourite, Pure Paws Dog Bakery has announced it will be opening the doors of its new venue on Pakington Street from tomorrow, February 26 in a little 1860s converted bluestone coach house, full of classical charm, warehouse chic and high-quality and unique pet treats and products.

Founded in 2017 by veterinary nurse and animal obsessed Nedda Tay, Pure Paws Dog Bakery was created to offer a natural and healthy alternative to the harmful commercial treats that flood the market inspired by the love of spoiling pooches with treats. Offering a range of naturally homemade, gourmet Aussie pet treats, Pure Paws Bakery earned quickly themselves a solid reputation for creating some of the best birthday cakes, pupcakes, donuts, biscuits and chocolates in Geelong.

Opening Geelong’s Geelong’s first Dog Bakery and Café in 2019, the Pure Paws Bakery storefront dream was crushed when they were forced to close their bakery back in March due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Continuing to chase that dream, the bakery teamed up with Belmont’s loved cupcakery Cara Mia Cake back in November for a three-month pop-up doggy bakery.

While the pop-up wasn’t permanent, it gave Nedda the confidence she needed to rebuild her business and secure the perfect permanent location for her thriving business – and a shopfront in the middle of dog-loving Newtown couldn’t be more fitting.

Pure Paws Dog Bakery will have more than 40 of their best products on offer, alongside a selection of bagged treats, cupcakes, doddy donuts and puppuccinos for the doggos. For the cat lovers out there, the bakery caters for you too with a selection of cat treats also available, including chicken jerky, fishtail bites, sardine balls and lamb lung bites. You’ll be dragging your furbabys away from here.

To celebrate the official opening, from Friday until Sunday the bakery will be slinging free treat bags for every pet, alongside half-price puppuccinos. Seems like a brilliant guilt-free way to let your little friend knows how much they’re appreciated.

The bakery opens from 10am on Friday, February 26. You can find out more about the grand opening here and visit the website for all other information.
