A beacon of light: Piano Bar are keeping live music alive with outdoor shows at the Geelong Racing Club

The two-hour sessions include everything you know and love about Piano Bar.

The last few weeks have been pretty amazing in regional Victoria. Life has returned to the city centres; restaurants have actual diners, pubs are pouring beers, boot camps are running outdoors, retail stores are open, and beauty services are back in action. It’s happy days.

One venue ensuring the good vibes keep flowing is Geelong’s famed Piano Bar, who are going above and beyond to showcase Geelong’s burgeoning music scene.

Never to shy away from a challenge, the team at Piano Bar continue to adapt, having now teamed up with the Geelong Racing Club and moving their performances to a ‘Piano Bar Marquee’ (Thanks to the Marquee Guy) at the Mounting yard.

Allowing for a little bit more freedom and the ability to cater to more regional Victorians, the two-hour sessions include everything you know and love about Piano Bar. The singalongs, the requests and the piano – only it will be outdoors, undercover and socially distanced.

It’s exactly what Geelong needed. Locals and friends from regional Victoria swarmed (in a socially-distanced fashion) to the racecourse over the last week to indulge in a welcomed slice of normality… and it’s one we will be able to enjoy for a while by the looks.

The sessions will run Friday through to Sunday at 6pm to 8pm and 8:30pm to 10:30pm. Tickets will include hot canapés and antipasto boards by SteamPocket catering, while drinks can be purchased at bar prices.

Giving Geelong a reason to look forward to the weekend once more, Piano Bar are stepping it up in a big way with their commitment to the local entertainment and live music scene. So much so, that they’re even running their famous Pitch, Please! singing and dancing drag shows and hosting Oktoberfest at the Geelong Racing Club.

Providing the perfect way to say “auf wiedersehen” to those COVID blues… the team will be running multiple Oktoberfest sessions on Saturday October 31, complete with lederhosen and dirndl’s, German style catering and guaranteed slap dancing and yodelling thanks to Andy who will be on the accordion, joined by his German themed band, “The Bratwurst Boys”. Of course, you’ll also find specialty beers on the menu. Tickets for that event can be found here.

This move follows Piano Bars continued commitment to the Geelong music scene, hosting countless live steam performances throughout both rounds of restrictions. Delivering the unparalleled atmosphere that only a piano bar delivers direct to the home of viewers, the digital events featured all the things we love about our nights at Piano Bar – drags, magicians, piano performances, and many special guest artists.

It’s time to support local, get around these absolute legends, and start singing at the top of your lungs to all those guilty pleasures.
