A bathe-in hot springs cinema is opening in Victoria next week

Ready to float under the stars?

At the end of the working week, there’s nothing better than a good, long soak. Luckily, Peninsula Hot Springs has just revealed the return of their much-loved outdoor cinema, which bathers can view from the comfort of their own mineral bath.

The key takeaways

  • The Peninsula Hot Springs are running an outdoor cinema
  • The screenings will run in February
  • Punters vote for what movies will screen

Let off some steam in these six highly recommended Victorian hot springs and bath houses.

Commencing next week in February, the Mornington Peninsula hot spot will be screening classic films in its bathhouse amphitheatre cinema.

This year’s season will run every Friday of the month, with a special Valentine’s Day screening on Sunday, February 14 for all the romantics out there. As for what’s screenings, each film will be decided by a public poll on the Peninsula Hot Springs Facebook page. The choices include the likes of 10 Things I Hate About You, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Are We Officially Dating, Sixteen Candles and Priscilla Queen of the Desert, among others.

The voting for the films closes on 31st of January and the final program will be published on the 1st of February.

The movie screenings are free with bathhouse bathing, which is anywhere between $20 to $150 per person (depending on what you book) and can be booked in advance.

An ideal location for Melburnians, it’s actually easier to get to the Springs if you’re coming from Geelong via the ferry. Definitely, the most scenic way to get across Port Phillip Bay from Queenscliff to Sorrento, it’s also pretty efficient, taking around 40 minutes to get you across the large stretch of coastline. From there, it’s about an 18-minute drive (or Uber) to the hot springs.

While the movies are great alone, the springs are estimated to be over ten thousand years old, with water rising 637 metres from below the earth’s surface and heated naturally by the earth’s core. The springs are high in magnesium, boron, potassium, and sodium, all naturally occurring in the geothermal waters. Definitely worth getting a little pruny for this one!

The cinema runs from Fri 5th February, 2021 – Fri 26th February, 2021. For more info, check out the Peninsula Hot Springs website.

Peninsula Hot Springs is located at 140 Springs Lane, Fingal
