The Basics, Thirsty Merc, Kisschasy and Little Birdy were among the bands to form out of Australia in 2002. So, too, did The Go Set. Fusing the undertones of folk punk and Celtic punk, the Melbourne outfit was formed by Justin Keenan following the disbanding of his previous outfit, Eddie Would Go.
Over a decade later and things are entering one of the most exciting times in the band’s life, and one which fans are going to love. On October 16, the band will release their seventh album, Rolling Sound, through FOUR|FOUR Music. As one hell of a sweetener, the album will come with an in-depth documentary. In their time the band has clocked up over 1200 gigs in pubs, clubs and festivals in over 20 countries around the world. From local festivals including the Port Fairy Folk Festival, Woodford and Falls Festival, to international festival including Skagen Festival (Denmark), Stemweder and Fete De La Musique (Germany) and Mighty Sounds (Czech), the band has had a camera on-hand to capture it all – the highs, lows and space in between. Ararat Hotel, Ararat – October 28; The Loft, Warrnambool – October 30; and & The Barwon Club, Geelong – October 31. In the meantime, check out new single ‘Bones’.
