A simmering, emphatic slice of infused jazz and blues, ‘Restless and Vain’ draws you in right from the very start, with Georgia executing sorrow and heartache in her monumentally unique way.

“[The song is about] being sent back into the feeling of doing wrong and feeling a bit sorry for myself,” she reveals. “There is a lot of anger behind the song, because it isn’t a traditional singer-songwriter format. The dynamic build is relative and placed to be relatable to life. I write songs in layers because I feel like it portrays the right emotion for the listeners; I need them to be on the same path as me when I’m looping and layering all of the time.”
Emotively rich, ‘Restless and Vain’ is fuelled by Georgia’s unwaveringly honest lyricism, giving listeners candid insight into her strength of character.
“Leading to the chorus speaking about how painful it is to have someone by your side when you can see “the fall”, “through the fall” being a bit of a broken soul but seeing something to guide you up,” Georgia explains. “I actually wrote it in my notes driving home from work over Pakington street and I saw all the lights of Geelong and Lara.
“There’s a lot in it. I think it’s probably the most I could say in a song, and it’s the proudest I’ve ever been of a song.”
With the sweet sounds of her telecaster accompanied by a soulful husky tone woven neatly together with smooth production from Benjamin Calderazzo, Georgia Rodgers has crafted something truly magnificent and is sure to have you hanging on to every word.
